The Model 82A1 is where the Barrett story began: the first shoulder-fired semi-automatic rifle built for heavy-caliber cartridges, and the basis of the rifles fielded by the U.S. military. This compliant version is chambered in .416 Barrett, the cartridge created as a long-range alternative where .50 BMG rifles are restricted.

It uses Barrett's recoil-operated action with a 29-inch fluted barrel and an efficient muzzle brake to keep recoil manageable, and it comes with a bipod and one 10-round magazine. A manganese phosphate finish protects the steel for field use. For hard-hitting long-range work with semi-auto follow-up shots, few rifles carry the 82A1's track record.
