The larger objective is the point of this configuration: it gathers meaningfully more light in the first and last minutes of legal shooting hours, which is when a great deal of game actually moves. The illuminated Fiber MOA holdover reticle sits in the second focal plane and provides marked holdover points for shooting past your zero, with illumination for low-contrast conditions.
