Browning's 1911-22 is a genuinely clever piece of design - not a full-size 1911 rechambered for rimfire, but a true scaled-down version, built to roughly 85 percent of the original's dimensions so the proportions and the handling feel right rather than oversized for the cartridge. This is the polymer-framed A1 variant with a 3.6-inch barrel in .22 LR. It replicates the 1911's controls and manual of arms - grip safety, thumb safety, single-action trigger - which makes it an excellent training companion for someone who carries a 1911, and a lightweight, low-recoil plinking and small game pistol in its own right.
