Rossi's RB22 brought a genuinely well-made bolt-action rimfire to a price point where most rifles feel like compromises. It feeds from the widely available 10/22-pattern rotary magazine, so spare magazines are cheap and easy to find anywhere, and the 18-inch barrel keeps it short and quick for a woods or truck gun.

Fiber optic sights come standard and are bright and easy to pick up in low light, with a drilled and tapped receiver for adding a scope. The black and wood combination gives it traditional looks, and the bolt action makes it an ideal first rifle for teaching fundamentals.
