A 28 gauge side-by-side is one of the most purely enjoyable guns in upland hunting, and the Charles Daly 500 makes that experience accessible. The 28 is famously efficient, patterning far better than its small payload suggests, and in a light double it is an absolute pleasure on quail, dove, and woodcock.

This 500 Field wears 26-inch barrels with 2.75-inch chambers, a walnut stock, and an engraved silver receiver that gives it a classic look. The traditional side-by-side sight picture takes a few rounds to adjust to and then becomes instinctive in a way an over-under never quite matches.
