The 601 is Charles Daly's semi-automatic, and this is the compact 20-gauge with a 22-inch barrel, a 3-inch chamber and Mossy Oak Bottomland camo. Compact dimensions mean a shorter length of pull, which matters more than most shooters admit: a stock that is too long makes mounting the gun slow and inconsistent, and that is where missed birds come from.

Between the reduced stock dimensions, the 20-gauge recoil and the short barrel, this is a practical fit for younger or smaller-framed hunters moving up to a semi-auto.
