Colt's Combat Unit Government is the company's hard-use 1911, developed with input from competitive shooters and built with the features that matter when the gun gets run rather than admired. This one is a 5-inch 9mm in black with night sights and an optics-ready slide cut, which is an increasingly rare and welcome combination on a 1911. In 9mm the recoil impulse is flat and practice is easy, while the single-action trigger delivers the short, clean break that has kept the 1911 relevant for well over a century. Serious equipment from the company that started it all.
