A break-action single shot in .45-70 Government is about as much honest thump as you can get in a rifle this simple. The CVA Scout has no magazine, no bolt, and very little to go wrong, which is exactly why it has become a favorite among hunters who want a lightweight brush rifle they will not worry about scratching.

This takedown model comes apart without tools for transport, wears a 22-inch stainless barrel against the weather, and carries a duck camo stock. The muzzle is threaded 11/16x24, and a suppressor or brake makes a real difference behind a cartridge like this one.
