The Keystone Sporting Arms Crickett is the classic first rifle, and this version dresses it up with a stainless barrel and a blue laminate stock that stands up to years of kid-sized abuse. It is a single-shot .22 LR bolt-action with a 16.125-inch barrel, a short length of pull sized for young shooters and a manual cocking design that lets a supervising adult control exactly when the rifle is ready to fire. The rebounding firing pin and one-round-at-a-time loading make it a deliberate teaching tool, and at roughly four pounds it is easy for a small shooter to hold steady. Countless shooters learned safety, sight alignment and trigger control on a Crickett before moving up to a repeater.
