Mossberg's Patriot has quietly become one of the better values in bolt action hunting rifles, using a spiral fluted bolt, a fluted barrel and the adjustable Lightning Bolt Action Trigger, features usually reserved for rifles well above its class. The walnut stock and blued finish give it a traditional look that many hunters still prefer over synthetics.

Chambered in .25-06 Remington with a 22-inch barrel, it uses a long-respected flat-shooting cartridge that splits the difference between varmint and big game work, and remains an excellent open-country deer and antelope round.
