Mossberg's Patriot delivers a lot of bolt-action rifle for hunters who want walnut and blued steel, and this version is the hard-hitting .300 Winchester Magnum model with a 24-inch barrel. The barrel is fluted to save weight and shed heat, threaded at the muzzle for a brake or suppressor, and fitted with rifle sights for backup if a scope fails in the field. Mossberg's LBA trigger adjusts from two to seven pounds by the owner, the spiral-fluted bolt cycles slick, and the detachable box magazine drops free for easy unloading. The .300 Win Mag reaches out on elk, moose and plains game with authority, making this a serious rifle for the hunter who travels.
