Mossberg's 802 Plinkster is exactly what its name promises: a straightforward, affordable .22 LR bolt action built for high-volume plinking and small game. This one has an 18-inch blued barrel and a synthetic stock, and it ships with a factory-mounted scope so it is ready to zero out of the box. It feeds from a detachable magazine and has a free-floated barrel for its length.

Rifles like this are how most shooters learn marksmanship fundamentals, and the low cost of .22 LR means trigger time is nearly unlimited. Light enough for young or small-framed shooters and accurate enough to stay interesting.
