The Savage Axis 2 builds on the original Axis platform's reputation for genuine out-of-the-box accuracy at an entry-level price, adding Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger for a crisper, more consistent pull. This version is chambered in .243 Winchester, a mild-recoiling, flat-shooting cartridge that has long been a favorite for deer hunters, varmint shooters, and younger or recoil-sensitive shooters alike. It wears a blued barrel and green synthetic stock built to shrug off rough field conditions, with a 20-inch barrel that keeps the rifle handy in thick cover while still extracting good velocity from the .243. For hunters who want a dependable, budget-friendly bolt gun that still shoots well, the Axis 2 remains one of the most popular choices on the market.
