The Savage A17 Pro Varmint is a semi-automatic .17 HMR rifle with a 22-inch blued barrel and a wood stock. Savage developed the A17 with a delayed-blowback action designed to handle the high-pressure .17 HMR cartridge reliably in a semi-auto, which is an uncommon feature. The .17 HMR is a flat-shooting, fast rimfire popular for varmints like prairie dogs and ground squirrels out to a couple hundred yards. The AccuTrigger and a varmint-style profile make it a solid choice for small-game hunters who want quick follow-up shots.
