The Axis II Compact is Savage's answer to the fact that a full-size rifle fits many shooters badly. Shortening the stock and barrel produces a rifle that young or smaller-framed hunters can actually mount and hold steady, which does more for accuracy in the field than any component upgrade.

This left-hand model wears an FDE stock and a 20-inch barrel in .223 Remington, with Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger. It comes as a package with a mounted scope, so it is ready to sight in and hunt varmints or predators.
