The Savage Axis 2 Compact XP is built for hunters who want a capable, no-nonsense bolt-action without a long wait or a long list of compromises. The Compact configuration shortens the length of pull, which makes it a genuinely good fit for younger hunters, smaller-framed shooters, or anyone who spends time in a treestand or blind where a full-length rifle feels clumsy. Chambered in .308 Winchester with a 20-inch barrel, it covers whitetail, hogs, and black bear with authority while staying easy to carry.

The Axis 2 adds Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger, a detachable box magazine, and a synthetic stock in a matte black finish that shrugs off weather.
