The Savage Axis II Compact XP is a youth and small-frame bolt-action rifle chambered in .243 Winchester, a classic choice for deer, antelope and varmints with mild recoil. It carries a 20-inch barrel and a shorter length of pull that suits smaller shooters, and the package comes with a scope already mounted and bore-sighted. Savage's AccuTrigger is adjustable and helps with crisp, light shooting, and the Axis line is known for strong accuracy at an approachable level. A great first deer rifle that can grow with a young hunter.
