The Savage Axis 2 Compact XP is a complete package built around shorter stature shooters, with a reduced length of pull and a 20-inch barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor, finished in black metal and a gray synthetic stock and sold with a mounted scope. A properly fitted stock is the single biggest factor in whether a new or smaller-framed hunter shoots well, and this addresses it directly rather than expecting the shooter to adapt. Savage's adjustable AccuTrigger comes standard. Paired with the mild-recoiling, flat-shooting 6.5 Creedmoor, it is a genuinely well-matched first big-game rifle.
