The Savage Axis II is the rifle that made accurate, no-nonsense bolt actions accessible to working hunters, and the Pro Forest configuration dresses that proven action in a bronze-finished barreled action and a rugged synthetic stock built for hard country. Chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 20-inch barrel, it balances quickly in timber and shooting houses while still wringing genuine long-range performance out of one of the flattest-shooting, mildest-recoiling deer cartridges available.

Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger, thread-in barrel headspacing and detachable box magazine are all here, giving a first-time hunter or a seasoned one a rifle that shoots well above what its plain looks suggest.
