The Savage Axis XP is the rifle that has introduced more people to centerfire shooting than almost anything else on the market — it ships as a complete scoped package, so you get a rifle and mounted optic ready to sight in rather than a project. Chambered in .223 Remington with a 22-inch blued barrel and a black synthetic stock, it is a superb varmint, predator and target rifle with very little recoil and inexpensive, widely available ammunition. Despite its entry-level positioning, the Axis has a well-deserved reputation for shooting better than it has any right to.
