The Savage B17 FV-SR has a reputation among rimfire shooters for delivering accuracy that embarrasses rifles costing several times as much. The FV designation means a heavy varmint-contour barrel, which resists heat-induced wandering across long prairie dog sessions, and the SR means a short, threaded 16.25-inch barrel ready for a suppressor or muzzle device.

Chambered in .17 HMR, it is a flat-shooting, high-velocity rimfire capable of precise hits on ground squirrels and other small varmints well past what .22 LR can manage. The AccuTrigger lets you set a light, crisp pull, and the blued barrel with synthetic stock keeps it practical for hard field use.
