The Taurus 856 is a six-shot .38 Special revolver on a compact steel frame, and it has become one of the most widely carried small revolvers in the country for a simple reason: it holds one more round than the traditional five-shot snub without growing meaningfully in size.

This version wears a 2-inch barrel with a matte black finish and fixed sights, the classic pocket and ankle configuration. Revolvers remain a sound choice for shooters who want a manual of arms with nothing to forget under stress, and the 856 is rated for standard .38 Special loads. This particular model is on the California approved roster.
