Weatherby's Element is an inertia-driven semi-automatic shotgun, and that design choice is the whole pitch: no gas system means less fouling to clean and more reliability in cold, wet conditions where gas guns get sluggish. This Element 2 in 20 gauge with a 28-inch barrel and 3-inch chamber is a light, quick upland and small-waterfowl gun, and the 20 is enough for pheasant, dove, quail, and early-season ducks without beating up the shooter. The tungsten-toned synthetic stock and receiver finish keep it weather-resistant and modern-looking. Inertia guns also tend to be lighter overall than comparable gas guns.
