The Vanguard is Weatherby's two-lug, Howa-built action, and it ships with a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee that it routinely beats. This Weatherguard version wears a burnt bronze Cerakote finish over a 24-inch barrel in .223 Remington with a matte black composite stock, a combination built to shrug off weather and hard travel. In .223 with a long barrel, it is an excellent coyote and prairie dog rifle: cheap to feed, easy on the shoulder for long sessions behind a bipod, and accurate enough to make the small targets fair game.
