The Sorix is Weatherby's inertia-driven semi-automatic shotgun, and inertia systems are prized by waterfowlers and upland hunters for the same reasons: they run clean, they stay light, and they are far less sensitive to the gunk that accumulates over a hard season than gas guns.

This Field configuration pairs a 28-inch blued barrel with wood furniture and a 3-inch chamber, which is the traditional all-around setup for ducks, pheasants, and clays. The 28-inch tube swings smoothly on crossing birds while keeping the gun quick between the hands.
