Auto-Ordnance has carved out a niche building 1911s that celebrate American military history, and the Tanker Edition wears an OD green Cerakote finish with armor-themed engraving over a standard 5-inch Government-pattern .45 ACP. Underneath the artwork it is a straightforward, GI-style 1911: forged frame and slide, single-action trigger, thumb and grip safeties, and the recoil characteristics that made the .45 ACP a legend. It shoots like a full-size 1911 should, which is to say heavy, steady and satisfying, and it makes a striking display piece for anyone who appreciates the platform's history.
