Heritage Manufacturing made its name on affordable single-action rimfire revolvers, and the Settler brings that same approach to a lever-action .22. A lever gun in .22 LR is one of the best-loved combinations in shooting: cheap to feed, quiet, nearly recoilless, and endlessly fun on tin cans, plus entirely capable on squirrels and rabbits. The case-colored receiver against a wood stock gives it an old-West look that costs a lot more from most makers, and the 16.5-inch barrel keeps the rifle short and light, which makes it a natural for younger shooters and pack duty.
