Rock Island's M1911-A1 GI is the honest, no-frills 1911: a Series 70 style .45 ACP with a 5-inch barrel, forged frame and slide, fixed GI sights, and a parkerized-look black finish. It is the pistol a lot of shooters buy as a first 1911 precisely because it does not try to be fancy, and because Armscor builds them in volume with a reputation for running.

This is a Massachusetts-compliant configuration. The GI spec means standard grip safety, spur hammer, and short trigger, which also makes it an excellent base for a custom build if you ever want to go that direction.
