This left-hand Savage Axis 2 comes in .243 Winchester with a 20-inch threaded barrel, blued metal and a gray synthetic stock. .243 has long been the go-to recommendation for a first centerfire rifle: enough for deer, light enough on recoil that a new shooter learns good habits, and flexible enough to double as a coyote and varmint gun.

Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger is what sets the Axis 2 apart from other entry-level rifles — a clean, light break makes far more difference to practical accuracy than most shooters realize. The threaded muzzle accepts a suppressor for a genuinely quiet setup.
