This Axis 2 Pro Forest is chambered in 7mm-08 Remington with a short 20-inch threaded barrel, which is a smart, underrated combination. The 7mm-08 gives you excellent 7mm bullets in a short-action package with mild recoil, making it one of the best all-around deer cartridges for hunters who do not want to be beaten up at the bench. The threaded muzzle takes a brake or suppressor, and 20 inches keeps the rifle short enough to stay manageable with a can installed. Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger and the Axis 2's rigid action are the reason these rifles shoot so well for the money.
