Savage's 93 series is the standard-setter in rimfire magnum bolt actions, and this 93R17 FSS pairs a 21-inch stainless barrel and synthetic stock with a .17 HMR chamber. The .17 HMR is extraordinarily flat-shooting for a rimfire, pushing a tiny 17-grain bullet fast enough to make 150-yard squirrel and prairie dog shots a reasonable proposition with almost no recoil and modest report. The rifle brings the user-adjustable AccuTrigger, a detachable magazine and a receiver drilled and tapped for scope bases.

Stainless and synthetic means it can live in a truck through a wet spring without complaint.
