The Axis 2 is Savage's entry-level bolt action, but the second generation quietly fixed the things people complained about — it ships with the user-adjustable AccuTrigger, so you're not stuck with a heavy factory pull. This Pro Western build wears bronze metalwork on a 20" barrel and, notably, a true left-hand action, which is rare in any configuration and rarer still in .25-06 Remington. The .25-06 is a genuinely underrated open-country cartridge: it drives light quarter-bore bullets fast and flat, making it excellent for antelope, deer, and long-shot coyote work in wind.
