The Taurus TH series is a hammer-fired, double-action/single-action pistol line, and this TH40 Compact chambers .40 S&W in a 3.54-inch barrel with a black finish. Hammer-fired DA/SA guns have a following for a specific reason: the long, heavy first-shot pull is a meaningful safety margin, while every shot after that breaks from a lighter single-action position. The .40 S&W splits the difference between 9mm and .45 ACP on energy and capacity and remains widely available. It ships with two magazines, which is more than many pistols in this class include.
