The ZPAP M70 is built by Zastava, the Serbian factory that has been producing Kalashnikov-pattern rifles since the 1960s, and it has earned a reputation as one of the sturdiest AKs available in the United States. A thick 1.5mm receiver, a bulged front trunnion, a chrome-lined barrel and a heavy-duty double-hook trigger give it a solidity that lighter imports do not match, and it shoots noticeably softer as a result. Chambered in 7.62x39 with a 16.25-inch barrel and fitted with Magpul furniture in place of traditional wood, this one is a no-excuses AK.
