The Heritage Rough Rider is how an enormous number of people get their first taste of single-action shooting, and this one is dressed up nicely with a color case hardened finish, cocobolo grips and a 4.75-inch barrel in .22 LR. Loading through a gate, cocking the hammer for every shot and lining up the fixed sights is a deliberate, old-fashioned rhythm that rewards patience and makes it a great teaching gun. Rimfire ammunition keeps range days cheap, recoil is essentially nonexistent, and the Western styling is a large part of the fun.
