Chambering a Howa 1500 in 7.62x39 makes more sense than it might first appear. Recoil is mild, the cartridge is widely available, and from a 22-inch barrel with a decent bullet it is genuinely effective on hogs and deer inside 200 yards. The Fence Line series wraps that smooth, robust Howa action in a lightweight synthetic stock with a threaded barrel, built for hunters who cover ground on foot. This one wears a Scorched Earth FDE finish. Howa actions have a long track record as the basis for custom builds, which says plenty about the quality underneath.
