Proof Research pioneered the carbon fiber-wrapped rifle barrel, and this PXT barrel blank brings that technology to the custom builder. It starts with a match-grade stainless steel liner, cut-rifled for a .264 bore that covers the 6.5mm cartridges from 6.5 Creedmoor to 6.5 PRC, then wraps it in carbon fiber to Proof's Sendero contour, giving a barrel that is stiffer and cooler-running than a comparable steel tube at a fraction of the weight. At 18 inches it is aimed at compact suppressed hunting builds and short-action gas guns. As a blank it must be chambered, threaded and fitted by a gunsmith, which is what lets you spec the exact cartridge, headspace and muzzle thread you want.
