Proof Research's PXT carbon-fiber barrel blank in .308 caliber at 16.5 inches, Sendero contour. This is about as short as a serious .308 build goes, and the length is chosen for suppressed shooting and for rifles that need to be genuinely compact — in a truck, on a pack, or in thick cover. The carbon fiber wrapped over a match-grade stainless core keeps the barrel stiff and cool while stripping weight off the muzzle. It ships as an unchambered, unthreaded blank for a qualified gunsmith to finish to your action and cartridge specification.
