This Proof Research PXT pre-fit is chambered in .300 Winchester Magnum with a 24-inch barrel, built for a Tikka T3x action. The .300 Win Mag remains the benchmark American magnum for elk, moose and long-range big game, and 24 inches is the practical length for getting the velocity the cartridge was designed to produce. Proof's carbon-fiber wrap over a match-grade stainless core is especially welcome here — it takes real weight off what would otherwise be a heavy magnum contour, and dissipates heat faster. Cut to Tikka's shouldered pre-fit spec, it installs without a lathe and headspaces off the shoulder.
