Retay has made a name importing well-built Turkish shotguns with genuinely clever engineering, and the ACE Upland Ultralight is aimed squarely at bird hunters who walk all day. In 28 gauge with a 24-inch barrel and a 3-inch chamber, it is a delight to carry and quick to the shoulder — 28 gauge has enjoyed a real resurgence among quail, grouse and woodcock hunters because it patterns beautifully and recoils almost not at all. The lightweight build is the whole point here: a gun you barely notice on the carry is a gun you swing faster when the covey flushes.
